Mr. Narongsak Chuensuchon, a farmer-turned businessman, has been in the coconut business for well over 10 years already. In the beginning, he was just a small coconut wholesaler in Ratchaburi’s Damnoen Saduak District. But with his vision, he has expanded his business under NC Coconut brand to the point that it now becomes a big coconut processor and exporter.

Creating Opportunities & Expanding Market for Further Success
“While being a coconut farmer, I noticed that coconut trees required just little chemical and little care. So, I decided to start wholesaling coconuts. After a while, I added value by handling basic processing such as removing coconut shells, boiling and roasting coconuts. I finally started exporting coconut products too,” Mr. Narongsak says.

The first overseas market was Taiwan. Once he jumped onto the export path, his market has significantly expanded as various other countries have expressed an interest in coconut products too. Learning on the job, Mr. Narongsak founded NC Coconut Company Limited. To date, this firm has gathered local produce and directly sold them to foreign buyers.

“The key problem was that our products did not have a long shelf life. After I raised the issue with my packaging supplier, it involved Packaging Business, SCG, in packaging development. The team from Packaging Business, SCG, then conducted a research and delivered the packages we wanted,” Mr. Narongsak recounts.

he continues. Thanks to efficient packaging, NC Coconut products namely fresh coconuts and processed coconuts have a longer shelf life. These products thus can be exported to many more countries, just as the firm enjoys greater competitiveness.

“I would like to thank SCG for developing three packages for us: bag for coconut jelly, bag for fresh coconut, and lately packaging that has been designed to extend the shelf life of products. Serving as the managing director of NCC Coconut, Mr. Narongsak emphasizes that an entrepreneur needs to have the guts to make a decision after contemplating all relevant information. “To achieve a success, it’s necessary that we set clear goals, ponder carefully, and act on our ideas. I have myself learned from every step of work and kept improving. If I don’t know something, I try to learn and then apply that knowledge for my firm’s development. Also, we need to have the confidence that we will be able to do it,” Mr. Narongsak quips.

According to him, NC Coconut hopes to continue working with the Packaging Business, SCG, in packaging development. The firm trusts that SCG will help respond to market needs, extend product’s shelf life further, and appeal well to consumers with innovative touch.
